The OPP in Kenora are using technology to help fight crime.

The detachment has been working with a program called
Hot Spot mapping to track crime stats.

Acting inspector Sean Crabbe say they use the the information in a number
of ways.

"That really helps us in our operational planning.  When we schedule officers to work, what assignment's they are given, where they go, what they do, the types of patrol techniques we use."

Crabbe adds that the Hot Spot mapping shows that the downtown area in Kenora is
where they see most of the crime, including assaults, drugs, thefts and mischief.
