The leader of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation is expressing outrage over the acquittal of Gerald Stanley in the 2016 shooting death of a young Indigenous man in Saskatchewan.
Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler says it's outrageous that 22-year-old Colten Boushie was shot dead and no one will be held accountable.
Fiddler says the legal system has failed him and the tragedy has exposed systemic racism in the justice system.
He points to the exclusion of Indigenous people in the jury selection process and blames government inaction in addressing the issue.
Fiddler is joining calls for an inquiry.
