All the major parties in the Kenora area have signed a joint resolution committing to develop an all-Nations hospital to serve all local residents.
Francis Kavanaugh is the grand chief of Treaty Three and says we're not currently being well-served by the existing health care system.
"You know, we all share the common problems with respect to a lack of high end services at the hospital. The hospital at the moment is very poorly equipped. We have to send people to Thunder Bay, Toronto, Hamilton."
Kenora M.P. Bob Nault says the job now is to secure the funding from the federal and provincial levels of government to move the plans forward.
"The proposal itself and the resources necessary for that are a few million dollars. But I think we'll get easily get through that. And then the big picture in the next decade is putting that infrastructure in place in this region".
